Our Story

The Hummingbirds came together in September 2025, inspired to depart from the heavier music their of peers in the Diablo Valley College Popular Music Program. Upon forming, the band looked to artists before them for inspiration; Otis Redding, Clairo, Stevie Wonder, and more. As they’ve grown, the group has shifted their focus to writing, recording, and eventually releasing original music. The foundation of the band lies in the rhythm section made up of Kristian Apostolov (drums), Garrett Mingardi (bass), Julian Caipo (guitar/vocals), and Antonio Ramirez (keys). Fronting the group are stunning vocalists Melina Gutierrez and Delaney Thomsen. After landing a gig at the legendary Starry Plough Pub in Berkeley, they decided to expand their line up with a horn section. Now an integral part of their music and live shows, Julian and Antonio compose and arrange horn parts for the musicians.
